Our Teachers

Sonia Andersen - Managing Director

Sonia Andersen has been involved in the performing arts area for over 15 years, and brings an extensive performance history. Sonia has been involved in live theatre in Okalahoma, South Pacific and Pajama Game, has appeared in Neighbours, Blue Heelers, and various movies and TV commercials. Has sung and danced professionally in many facets, floor shows, festivals, major concert venues, television and involved in Commonwealth Games 2006. "I look forward to sharing my skills and knowledge." Holds a BA in Social Work, Cert IV, Musical Theatre, VCA.

Jeanette Tatton

Jeanette Tatton is a well sought after teacher who has had extensive teaching experience here and interstate, she brings a wealth of experience to the ballet world. L.I.S.T.D Qualified Cecchetti Ballet Teacher (Licentiate) D.F.T.A Members in Jazz Ballet & Tap. Certificate IV in Pilates Instruction (91121NSW) and Matwork Accreditation.

Elizabeth Popovic

Elizabeth Popovic (ACBA-CICB) is an Associate of Cecchetti Ballet Australia and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Drama and Literature as well as a Bachelor of Education. She brings to her classes over 20 years of dance training and over a decade of dance teaching experience. She has completed examinations in Cecchetti Ballet, ISTD Modern and CTSD Jazz and is currently working on Advanced 2 and the Certificate IV in Dance Teaching and Management (Associate Diploma) with Cecchetti Ballet Victoria. Elizabeth has worked at Supersonics since it opened in 2007, and took over the reins of Principal Cecchetti teacher in 2012. She also teaches VCE Dance, Drama and VCAL full time at a local high school.

Mirrin Keefe

After a promising start in gymnastics, wining a state championship, Mirrin Keefe transitioned across in dance. She has trained in Cecchetti ballet and has received a perfect score (50) in VCE Vet Dance and was chosen to perform her jazz solo at the VCE top class concert, receiving a Premier’s Award in the same year. After graduating  she continued her training at Jason Coleman’s Ministry of Dance, receiving a certificate of Performance throughout 2010 and 2011 and finished a graduating program in 2012. In recent years she has enjoyed touring nationally with ‘The Pink Show’ and the ‘Lady Marmalade Show’. Also performing throughout Victoria at various corporate functions, including the AFL grand final breakfast, many fundraisers for charities, and as a resident freestyler for Viper Room Anthems.

 

Most recently Mirrin has begun to explore the world of choreography in her first position as choreographer for Monash University, in the Science Society’s Annual Ball. Mirrin is a consummate professional that understands that learning never finishes, so enjoys extending her training as well as passing on this learning to her students. For Mirrin, teaching has very much become a dual passion with dancing.

Brett Beckhurst

Brett  has dream of becoming a performer , he began his training in Queensland in a small dance school  where he trained in Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Contemporary, Singing, Musical Theatre, Acrobatics, Hip Hop Lyrical, Commercial and Circus, later to continue training with ADPI (Australian Dance Performance Institute) under direction from Barbra Evan, Helena Moore and Michael Edge. In 2010, he made the big move to Melbourne to complete the Fulltime Preforming Arts course at Patrick Studios Australia under the direction of Todd Patrick. Brett has travel to and performed across Asia on several occasions and his choreography has been utilised around the globe in LIVE broadcasted shows, music videos (VEVO) and concerts.

Brett is proactivity building relationships and connections around the globe. Where he has had the opportunities to meet and work with some International Artists and Performers - Nat Ho, Kris Wu, Jolin Tsai, Yoga Lin, Wilber Pan, Fatai, Jessica Mauboy, J Williams, Zoe Badwi, Jason Dy (The Voice PH, Champion), SONY Music PH and Gforce Dance Centre PH. Brett has worked with The Australian Opera - A Midsummers Night Dream and also had the opportunity to be a part of many Tv Programs and Cooperate gigs in and outside Australia

Eliza Woods

Growing up in Central West New South Wales, Eliza began dancing at the age of 4, and over her 17 years of performing has trained in various styles including Ballet - ADV  (Receiving Honours in her final Major 4 assessment), Jazz, Lyrical/Contemporary, Hip Hop, Tap and Musical Theatre.

At the beginning of 2016, Eliza moved interstate to further her career in the performing arts at Jason Colemans Ministry of Dance receiving her Diploma in Musical Theatre and Certificate IV in Dance Teaching and Management.

This year Eliza is excited to share her passion and knowledge for performing with the upcoming generations

Hannah Betram

Hannah has professionally trained in many areas and genres of dance for over 15 years, including Ballet (RAD,Cecchetti and Vaganova), Jazz, Contemporary, Acrobatics, Hiphop and Tap.
Hannah also holds a certificate 3 & 4 in Dance and Performing Arts. She has trained with the likes of Ms Christine Walsh at the Australian Conservatoire of Ballet and the Victorian College of The Arts working with some of Australia’s most recognised and respected choreographers, and Dancers. Hannah has danced in professional ballet productions at the State Theatre of Victorian in ballets such as Romeo and Juliet, Sleeping Beauty as well as everybody's favourite Swan Lake She offers years of performance experience including preforming all over the state in numerous modern productions

Hannah has now followed her passion to share the joy of dance through her teaching, and love working with children and helping them achieve their goals and dreams.

Ashley Barrett

Ashley Barrett has been dancing for 10 years and has completed cert II, Cert III, Cert IV in performing Arts at Patrick studios Australia. Ashley specialises in Commercial jazz, Jazz, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre, tap, Strength and conditioning, acrobatics and contemporary. Ashley has  been involved with the production company ‘Artzsmartz’ where productions are created for disabled/Learning disability kids who have a passion for performing and gaining social skills as well as building their self-confidence.

"It would be great to share my passion for dance with others especially children as I enjoy working with kids and helping/watching them grow."

Brittany Barnes

Brittany has a very strong passion for dancing and performing. In 2013, Brittany completed her Certificate II in Dance through the VCE VET Dance Program and was offered a position to be a part of the Full Time Course at Jason Coleman’s Ministry of Dance from 2015-2016. By the end of these two years of intense training, Brittany was able to achieve and graduate with her Certificate IV in Dance, Certificate IV in Dance Teaching and Management, and Diploma of Dance (Elite Performance).

Brittany has performed at numerous corporate, commercial and charity events in many of Melbourne’s most prestigious venues, has appeared on a range of television networks and has choreographed for many school productions, showcases and other dance-related projects. Brittany has been able to dance and work alongside with many industry professionals such as Jason Coleman and Yvette Lee, as well as international choreographers Robin Antin and The Squared Division.

While Brittany still loves to dance and perform herself, she is now very devoted and dedicated to teaching, nurturing and inspiring the next generation of rising performers.
